Causes of Hair Loss

Hair loss is an often devastating issue for both men and women. It can affect one ‘s confidence and self-esteem, and in women, in particular, can greatly distort their beauty image.

There are numerous causes for hair loss, ranging from heredity, aging, damaging hair care practices, to possible systemic medical conditions and/or deficiencies. In addition, common scalp conditions such as dandruff, if not properly treated and managed, can lead to hair loss.

NicholsMD, Hair and Scalp Experts

Many people don’t realize that dermatologists are trained as experts of not only the skin, but also of the hair and scalp. At NicholsMD, Dr. Nichols specializes in the evaluation and diagnosis of hair loss, and will develop an appropriate treatment plan for each individual client.

There is Hope at NicholsMD with PRP Therapy

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy, an innovative technique that is already being used for non-surgical facial rejuvenation, is now also available for the treatment of certain types of hair loss. PRP therapy can harness the power of your body’s powerful natural growth factors to reactivate inactive hair follicles and trigger new hair growth.

In the video below Dr. Nichols explains the PRP Treatment, and how PRP may be a solution to hair loss.*. The platelets in our blood are cells designed to heal injuries that are filled with our own natural growth factors. This makes them exponentially more effective than synthetic growth factors in rejuvenating our skin and hair follicles!

The process of PRP therapy begins by drawing one small tube of your blood in our office just like a routine blood test. The blood is then spun in a centrifuge and the PRP is separated and removed from the rest of the blood. The highly-concentrated PRP is then injected into the scalp. The PRP scalp treatments are done in a series of 6 treatments done once per month.*

Skilled treatments. Real results.
